Here's an example: The Situation In many production settings, there is a need to run varying substrates and coatings through the same machine. Due to variances in materials and/or varying needs, the coating rods need to be changed frequently. The Problem Frequent changing of rods takes time, and slows down the production process. Rods need to be loosened using a drill chuck, removed, and replaced with another rod. The new rod then must be manually aligned for accuracy. If the rods are not properly aligned, which may happen in a rushed production atmosphere, inaccurate coating of the substrate can result. The Solution RDS developed the QuickCoupler, a convenient device for rapid changing of coating rods.
