For research, testing and quality control, RDS laboratory products include a variety of standard rods, as well as accessories such as storage cases, drawdown pads, syringes and spoils paper. Laboratory Coating Rods For lab settings and manual coating applications, RDS Laboratory Coating Rods are available in a variety of standard diameters (.25, .375 and .5 inches) in 16" lengths. Custom rods of various diameters and lengths are also available. Lab rods can be used to perform quick, accurate draw-downs by hand or on a pilot coater for production runs. Drawdown Pads In evaluating the properties of coating, ink, emulsions and other applications, the RDS Laboratory Drawdown Pad provides accurate repeatable results. The .5" thick plate glass pad is hard and ultra-smooth with rubber feet to prevent slipping. A heavy duty clip holds the substrate in place while the coating is applied evenly with an RDS coating rod. Storage Cases Keep your laboratory rods clean and safe. Laboratory storage cases provide a convenient place to store and organize up to 24 quarter-inch or 20 half-inch laboratory rods. Coating Rod Rinse & Clean Tanks The solvent-resistant, high-density polyethylene tank provides a safe way to effectively clean rods. The covered case with molded rod holders results in uniform cleaning and reduces evaporation of solvents. Automatic Control Coaters For the application of paints, varnishes, adhesives, inks and other coatings; the RK Control Coater draw-down machines allow for hands-free operation while providing the highest repeatability and consistency. Our three models are easy to use and clean. Drawdown Syringes In lab settings, RDS Graduated Syringes help users to conveniently measure and evenly apply coating to the substrate for precise, repeatable results. Drawdown Spoils Paper Used beneath the substrate on a drawdown pad, this specially coated 11 x 17 release paper catches excess coating that flows off the side or bottom of the substrate. Keep your drawdown pad clean and extend its life.
